It targets CD20 antigen on the surface of B cells, leading to cell lysis through mechanisms like antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity, complement-dependent cytotoxicity, and direct induction of apoptosis. Also investigated for use in autoimmune diseases where depletion of B cells can modulate immune response. Serves as a reference standard in biosimilar development and analytical testing of anti-CD20 antibodies.
