Used in the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and certain types of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It works by targeting CD20, a protein found on the surface of B-cells, leading to their destruction through immune-mediated mechanisms such as antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity and direct induction of apoptosis. Often used in combination with chemotherapy or other targeted agents, it helps reduce tumor burden and prolong progression-free survival in patients. Also investigated in autoimmune conditions involving abnormal B-cell activity.
