Used as a catalyst in organic synthesis, particularly in oxidation reactions and C–H activation processes. Exhibits high thermal stability and selectivity, making it suitable for use in fine chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing. Also applied in electrochemical systems, such as sensors and fuel cells, due to its redox-active metal center and extended conjugated structure. Investigated for use in photodynamic therapy and as a photosensitizer in solar energy conversion because of its strong absorption in the visible light range.
