Used as a discotic liquid crystal material in organic electronic devices, particularly in organic photovoltaics and thin-film transistors. Its three long dodecyloxy chains promote self-assembly into columnar mesophases, enabling efficient charge transport along the columns. Commonly employed as a hole-transport layer or active component in solution-processed solar cells due to its thermal stability and tunable optoelectronic properties. Also investigated in sensors and electrochromic devices owing to its reversible redox behavior and film-forming capability on flexible substrates.
