Used as a key monomer in the synthesis of high-performance polyesters and liquid crystalline polymers. Commonly applied in specialty engineering plastics and advanced composite materials where durability at elevated temperatures is required. Also investigated for use in electroactive polymers and as a building block in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) due to its ability to chelate metal ions through carboxylate groups.
