SGX-523 is a selective inhibitor of the MET kinase, a receptor tyrosine kinase involved in cell growth, survival, and motility. It has been primarily investigated for its potential in cancer therapy, especially in tumors driven by MET gene amplification or overexpression. This compound showed promise in preclinical studies for treating non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and other solid tumors with aberrant MET signaling. Due to its targeted mechanism, SGX-523 was explored as a way to block tumor progression and metastasis with fewer side effects compared to conventional chemotherapy.
