Used in the treatment of cholangiocarcinoma, a type of bile duct cancer, particularly in patients with FGFR2 gene fusions or rearrangements. It functions as a selective inhibitor of fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFRs), blocking signaling pathways that drive tumor growth. Approved for use in previously treated, unresectable locally advanced or metastatic cases, it helps slow disease progression and improve progression-free survival. Also being studied in other cancers with FGFR alterations, including certain types of solid tumors and hematologic malignancies.
