Used in targeted cancer therapy, particularly in the treatment of pancreatic cancer. It binds to MUC1, a glycoprotein overexpressed on the surface of many tumor cells, enabling selective delivery of therapeutic agents or facilitating immune-mediated destruction of cancer cells. Employed as a reference standard in immunoassays and drug development to evaluate binding affinity and specificity of experimental anti-MUC1 antibodies. Also investigated in antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) where it serves as a targeting component to deliver cytotoxic drugs directly to tumor cells, minimizing damage to healthy tissues.
