Davidson's fixative
blur_circular Chemical Specifications
description Product Description
Davidson's fixative is a histological fixative composed of formalin, glacial acetic acid, ethanol, and water. It is widely used in histopathology for rapid fixation of delicate tissues, providing excellent morphological preservation. Particularly effective for reproductive organs, eyes, embryos, and tissues from aquatic animals such as fish and invertebrates, it is common in veterinary and marine pathology. This fixative supports downstream processing for paraffin embedding, frozen sections, and routine staining like H&E. While suitable for general diagnostic applications, it is not optimized for nucleic acid preservation like RNA; for molecular studies such as PCR, alternative fixatives or methods are recommended.
