Delivered via transdermal patch, oral tablets, or injection, it works by blocking muscarinic receptors in the central nervous system, particularly in the vestibular system and vomiting center. The transdermal patch is commonly used for long-duration travel or surgical procedures due to its sustained release. Additionally, it has been used in ophthalmology to induce mydriasis and cycloplegia, though less commonly today. In some cases, it is used in the management of excessive drooling and certain symptoms in palliative care.
