description Product Description

Furfuryl alcohol is widely used in the production of foundry resins, particularly in sand core binders for metal casting. It cures under acidic conditions to form a rigid thermoset polymer, providing excellent heat resistance and dimensional stability to molds. It serves as a key raw material in the synthesis of furan resins, which are employed in corrosion-resistant fiberglass-reinforced plastics for tanks, piping, and linings in chemical processing environments. Due to its biobased origin, furfuryl alcohol is used in green chemistry applications and as a solvent or intermediate in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, flavoring agents, and agrochemicals. It is also utilized in wood treatment to improve hardness, durability, and resistance to moisture and decay. When impregnated into wood, it polymerizes within the cell walls, creating a dense, stable composite material. Additionally, furfuryl alcohol finds use in the preparation of specialty adhesives, coatings, and cement modifiers, where enhanced chemical and thermal resistance are required.
