Used as a linker in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for gas storage and catalysis due to its rigid aromatic structure and ability to coordinate with metal ions. The triazole and carboxylic acid groups enhance binding versatility, making it suitable for designing porous materials for CO₂ capture and hydrogen storage. Also explored in proton-conductive materials for fuel cell applications because of its potential for hydrogen bonding networks.
