Used primarily as an antineoplastic agent in the treatment of various cancers, including Hodgkin’s lymphoma, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, testicular cancer, and squamous cell carcinomas. It functions by binding to DNA and inducing strand breaks, which leads to cell death in rapidly dividing tumor cells. Commonly administered intravenously or intramuscularly, it is often part of combination chemotherapy regimens. Due to its potential to cause pulmonary toxicity, lung function is closely monitored during treatment. Also used in some dermatological procedures for treating warts and pleurodesis in patients with recurrent pleural effusions.
