Used as a precursor in organic electronics, particularly in the synthesis of conjugated materials for organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) and organic photovoltaics (OPVs). Its rigid, star-shaped structure with extended π-conjugation enhances charge transport and film stability. The trimethylsilyl-protected ethynyl groups allow for controlled deprotection and further coupling reactions, enabling stepwise construction of complex molecular architectures. Commonly employed in solution-processed thin films where thermal stability and morphological control are critical.
