Used as a pH-sensitive azo dye in analytical chemistry for detecting metal ions, especially in spectrophotometric analysis. Its structure allows conjugation with proteins and biomolecules for use in biochemical labeling and immunoassays. Also applied in the development of colorimetric sensors due to its distinct color change in different pH environments. Shows potential in photo-switchable systems because of the trans-cis isomerism of the azo group under light exposure.
