Used as a chiral ligand in asymmetric catalysis, particularly in transition metal-catalyzed reactions such as rhodium- or ruthenium-mediated enantioselective hydrogenation of prochiral olefins and ketones. Its phosphine-oxazoline structure provides excellent stereocontrol, making it valuable in the synthesis of optically active pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals. Commonly employed in asymmetric C–C bond-forming reactions and cycloadditions where high enantioselectivity is required. Also utilized in palladium-catalyzed allylic substitutions to produce chiral intermediates with high ee values.
