Used as a chiral ligand in asymmetric catalysis, particularly in enantioselective transition metal-catalyzed reactions. It plays a key role in promoting stereoselectivity in carbon–carbon bond-forming reactions, such as asymmetric allylic alkylation and Heck-type reactions. Its rigid oxazoline-bipyridine framework enhances metal coordination and stabilizes the active catalyst species, leading to high enantiomeric excess in the products. Commonly employed with palladium, copper, or nickel complexes in synthetic organic chemistry for the preparation of optically active compounds, including pharmaceutical intermediates and fine chemicals.
