Motixafortide is used to enhance the mobilization of hematopoietic stem cells from the bone marrow into the bloodstream. It is primarily applied in patients with multiple myeloma who are undergoing stem cell transplantation. By blocking the CXCR4 receptor, it disrupts the interaction between stem cells and the bone marrow environment, allowing more stem cells to be collected for apheresis. This leads to faster engraftment and potentially shorter recovery times after transplant. It is often used in combination with granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) to improve the efficiency of stem cell collection.
