Used as a bifunctional chelating agent in radiopharmaceuticals, particularly for labeling peptides and proteins with diagnostic or therapeutic radionuclides. The thiol group enables conjugation to targeting biomolecules via maleimide chemistry, while the polyaminocarboxylate structure strongly binds metal ions such as gallium-68, indium-111, or lutetium-177. This makes it valuable in the development of targeted imaging agents for PET or SPECT, as well as in targeted radionuclide therapy.
