Its molecular structure enables efficient complexation with target metals, making it suitable in solvent extraction processes within the recycling of spent lithium-ion batteries and processing of laterite ores. Exhibits good phase separation, low solubility in water, and high resistance to degradation under acidic conditions, which enhances process efficiency and reusability in industrial-scale operations. Also investigated for use in nuclear fuel reprocessing due to its ability to selectively bind certain actinides and lanthanides.
