description Product Description
Triflusulfuron-methyl is a selective post-emergence herbicide primarily used in sugar beet crops to control a broad spectrum of broadleaf weeds, such as common lamb's-quarters, redroot pigweed, and wild buckwheat. It belongs to the sulfonylurea class and works by inhibiting the enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS), which disrupts the synthesis of essential branched-chain amino acids, leading to the cessation of cell division and plant growth in susceptible weeds. Effective at very low application rates (typically 10-20 g/ha), it provides targeted weed control with minimal impact on the crop when applied according to label recommendations. Its systemic action allows absorption through foliage and roots, translocating throughout the plant to kill weeds from the inside. Due to its specificity and low use rate, it integrates well into integrated weed management (IWM) programs, helping to delay the development of herbicide resistance, and is often tank-mixed with other herbicides for broader spectrum control.
