Used primarily as a synergist in pesticide formulations, enhancing the effectiveness of insecticides like pyrethrins and pyrethroids. It works by inhibiting enzymes in insects that would otherwise break down the insecticide, allowing lower doses to be effective. Commonly found in household insect sprays, pet shampoos, and agricultural products targeting mosquitoes, flies, and other pests. Also used in some public health programs for vector control, especially in malaria prevention efforts. Not effective as an insecticide on its own but significantly boosts the potency and speed of kill of co-applied insecticides.
