Used in the treatment of colorectal cancer, often in combination with other chemotherapy drugs like 5-fluorouracil and leucovorin (FOLFOX regimen). Effective in both early-stage and metastatic forms of the disease. Works by interfering with DNA replication in cancer cells, leading to cell death. Administered intravenously in clinical settings. Also investigated for use in other gastrointestinal cancers such as gastric and pancreatic cancers.
