description Product Description
Used in combination with artemether for the treatment of uncomplicated malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum. It is effective in both adults and children, particularly in regions where the parasite has developed resistance to older antimalarial drugs. The combination works by rapidly reducing the parasite load (artemether) while lumefantrine eliminates remaining parasites and helps prevent recrudescence. It is administered orally, usually in a six-dose regimen over three days, and its absorption is enhanced when taken with fatty food. Due to its role in artemisinin-based combination therapies (ACTs), it plays a key part in global malaria control efforts.
