Used primarily to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It helps relax blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to work more efficiently. This reduces the risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems. Often prescribed when other antihypertensive drugs are not effective or well tolerated. Also used in patients with heart failure to improve survival and reduce hospitalizations. Taken orally, usually once daily, and works over a 24-hour period.
