Used primarily to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It helps relax blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily, which reduces the risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems. Often prescribed when other antihypertensive drugs are not effective or well tolerated. Also used in patients with heart failure to improve survival and reduce hospitalizations. Works by blocking angiotensin II receptors, preventing the hormone from causing blood vessel constriction.
