description Product Description
Cadmium carbonate (CdCO3) is mainly used as a precursor in the synthesis of cadmium pigments, such as cadmium yellow (CdS) and cadmium red (CdSe), which impart vibrant yellow to orange-red hues in ceramics, glass, enamels, plastics, and artists' paints. It is also employed in the production of industrial coatings and as a source material for cadmium oxide via thermal decomposition, with the oxide used in catalytic processes, electronics, and phosphors. Limited applications include analytical reagents and certain electroplating formulations. Due to cadmium's toxicity and environmental hazards, its use is heavily regulated, and it is increasingly replaced by less harmful alternatives in consumer and industrial products.
