Nisoldipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker and active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) primarily used in the development of medications for treating hypertension. It functions by blocking calcium ion influx into vascular and cardiac smooth muscle cells, resulting in vasodilation, improved blood flow, and reduced cardiac workload. This helps lower blood pressure and mitigate risks of cardiovascular complications. Nisoldipine may also be incorporated into formulations for angina pectoris management. As a chemical intermediate, it is supplied as a pale to dark yellow solid with a melting point of 145-155°C and purity of at least 98.5%, suitable for pharmaceutical synthesis, research, and manufacturing applications.
