description Product Description
Used primarily in the treatment of calcium and bone disorders, calcitriol helps regulate calcium and phosphate levels in the body to support healthy bone formation. It is commonly prescribed for patients with chronic kidney disease who cannot produce sufficient active vitamin D, leading to secondary hyperparathyroidism and renal osteodystrophy. It is also used to manage hypocalcemia in patients with hypoparathyroidism and to treat metabolic bone disease in individuals with vitamin D resistance. In addition, calcitriol is utilized in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis, especially when combined with calcium supplements, to reduce bone loss and fracture risk. Topical formulations are sometimes used to treat psoriasis, as it helps control skin cell growth and reduce plaque formation.
