MYFerment™ Balance (Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate), high concentration (Fermented Dry Residue approx. 1%)
Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate is obtained by fermenting Saccharomyces cerevisiae (a species of yeast) in a controlled medium. After fermentation, the mixture is filtered to remove yeast cells and large particulates, leaving behind beneficial metabolites such as:
These fermentation byproducts have been explored for skin benefits in topical applications, making MYFerment™ Balance a frequent ingredient in cosmeceutical and skin care formulations.
Prebiotic-Like Effect
Certain components of MYFerment™ Balance (e.g., beta-glucans, peptides) may act as substrates or supportive agents for the skin’s beneficial microbiota. By supplying essential nutrients, SFF can help maintain a balanced microbial ecosystem on the skin’s surface, which in turn supports healthy skin function.
Barrier Support and Hydration
The fermentation process yields humectant and skin-conditioning molecules (such as amino acids). These help strengthen the skin barrier and boost hydration, which is crucial for a stable microbiome. A well-hydrated stratum corneum can promote an environment where beneficial microorganisms thrive.
Antioxidant and Soothing Properties
Fermented filtrates often possess antioxidant activity, which may help reduce skin irritation and oxidative stress. A calmer, less inflamed skin environment is more conducive to healthy microbial diversity.
Possible Anti-Acne or Balancing Effects
Yeast-derived beta-glucans and other active compounds may help modulate inflammatory processes associated with acne while not disrupting beneficial microbes. Through these immunomodulatory and soothing properties, SFF could contribute to a balanced microbiome.
Improved Skin Clarity and Brightening
In addition to microbiome balancing, anecdotal and some early research suggest that MYFerment™ Balance can improve skin texture and luminosity. This is partly due to combined effects on exfoliation, hydration, and a healthy barrier—factors which also intertwine with balanced microbial populations.
