Used as a precursor in the production of lithium-ion battery materials, particularly lithium-manganese oxide cathodes. Serves as a source of manganese in fertilizers and animal feed supplements to correct manganese deficiency. Employed in the ceramic industry to color pottery and tiles. Utilized in the synthesis of other manganese compounds for catalysts and pigments. Also found in some dry cell batteries and as an additive in glass manufacturing to remove green tint caused by iron impurities.
