description Product Description
Used in combination with other antiretroviral agents for the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection in adults and pediatric patients. It is an integrase strand transfer inhibitor (INSTI) that blocks the action of the HIV integrase enzyme, preventing the virus from integrating its genetic material into the host cell's DNA. This inhibition reduces viral load and helps maintain immune function. Bictegravir is commonly formulated with emtricitabine and tenofovir alafenamide in a single-tablet regimen, offering a convenient, once-daily dosing option with high efficacy and a high barrier to resistance. It is indicated for both treatment-naïve patients and those already virologically suppressed on a stable regimen.
