Used as a precursor in sol-gel processes for the synthesis of antimony-containing oxide materials, particularly in the production of transparent conducting films and electro-optical devices. It serves as a source of antimony in the fabrication of semiconductor thin films and is employed in the development of catalysts for polymerization reactions, especially in polyester and PET production. Its reactivity with various metal alkoxides allows for the creation of mixed-metal oxide coatings with tailored electronic and optical properties. Also utilized in specialty coatings that require high refractive index or UV resistance.
