description Product Description
Lafutidine is primarily used in the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, as well as in managing symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It acts as a potent histamine H2-receptor antagonist, effectively reducing gastric acid secretion. Unlike some other H2 blockers, Lafutidine also exhibits gastroprotective properties by enhancing mucosal defense through the stimulation of endogenous prostaglandin production and increasing mucus secretion. This dual action—acid suppression and mucosal protection—makes it effective in healing gastric lesions and preventing recurrence. It is commonly prescribed for relief of heartburn, acid regurgitation, and other symptoms associated with hyperacidity. Due to its long duration of action, it allows for once-daily dosing, improving patient compliance.
