Also indicated for invasive aspergillosis when other therapies fail or are not tolerated. Administered intravenously, it targets the fungal cell wall by inhibiting β-(1,3)-D-glucan synthesis, a mechanism that reduces toxicity to human cells. Preferred in hospital settings due to its broad spectrum and favorable safety profile compared to older antifungals.
