Temafloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that was developed for the treatment of bacterial infections, particularly those caused by susceptible gram-negative and some gram-positive organisms. It was used to manage respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections. Due to its broad-spectrum activity, it showed efficacy in treating infections where other antibiotics had limited effectiveness. However, its clinical use was discontinued in several markets due to safety concerns, including reports of severe hypersensitivity reactions and multi-organ failure. As a result, it is no longer commonly used in therapeutic settings.
