description Product Description

Flomoxef sodium is a broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the oxacephem class, commonly used in clinical settings to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It is particularly effective against both aerobic gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including many β-lactamase-producing strains, making it suitable for infections resistant to other β-lactam antibiotics. It is widely applied in the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, gynecological infections, and skin and soft tissue infections. Due to its stability against many bacterial enzymes that degrade other antibiotics, flomoxef sodium is often used in hospital-acquired infections where multidrug-resistant organisms are suspected. The drug is administered parenterally, either intravenously or intramuscularly, allowing for rapid distribution in body tissues and fluids. It is especially useful in perioperative prophylaxis to prevent surgical site infections, given its strong penetration into tissues and prolonged antibacterial activity. Flomoxef sodium is also considered in empirical therapy for severe infections when the causative organism has not yet been identified, due to its wide coverage and favorable safety profile. Its use, however, is typically reserved for moderate to severe cases due to concerns about antibiotic resistance and the need for parenteral administration.
