description Product Description
Disopyramide is primarily used as an antiarrhythmic agent in the treatment of cardiac rhythm disorders. It helps control abnormal heartbeats by affecting the electrical activity of the heart muscle. It is commonly prescribed for patients with ventricular arrhythmias, such as premature ventricular contractions and ventricular tachycardia, and may also be used in certain cases of supraventricular arrhythmias. Disopyramide works by blocking sodium channels, which slows down electrical conduction in the heart and prolongs the refractory period. Due to its anticholinergic effects, it can also increase heart rate in some conduction tissues, making it useful in specific arrhythmia management scenarios. It is often considered when other antiarrhythmic drugs are ineffective or not tolerated.
