Used as an intermediate in the synthesis of anthraquinone dyes and pigments, particularly for vat dyes applied to cellulose fibers like cotton. It contributes to the development of blue and green shades with good light and wash fastness. Also employed in the production of functional dyes for specialty printing and in the formulation of disperse dyes for polyester and acetate fibers. Its bromo and amino groups allow for further chemical modifications, enhancing dye solubility and affinity to fibers.
