Used primarily as a vasodilator to improve blood flow, especially in peripheral vascular diseases. Helps relieve symptoms of poor circulation such as leg pain during walking (intermittent claudication). Also utilized in obstetrics to delay premature labor by relaxing uterine smooth muscle, thereby inhibiting contractions. Occasionally used in veterinary medicine for similar circulatory and reproductive conditions.
