Used primarily as a plasticizer to increase the flexibility and durability of plastics, especially in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) products. Commonly found in coatings, adhesives, printing inks, and celluloid resins. Also used in cosmetics and personal care products such as perfumes, lotions, and nail polishes to help dissolve and stabilize fragrances and other ingredients. Due to its ability to extend fragrance life, it is often used in scented consumer goods. Additionally, it has been used in some insect repellents and as a solvent in slow-release formulations.
