Used to treat a variety of bacterial infections, particularly those caused by anaerobic bacteria and certain Gram-positive organisms. Commonly prescribed for respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, dental infections, and bone/joint infections. It is also an alternative for patients allergic to penicillin. Available in oral, topical, and intravenous forms, it is effective in treating acne when applied topically. Frequently used in surgical prophylaxis to prevent infection during procedures.
