Bucetin was historically used as an analgesic and antipyretic for the relief of pain and fever. It was commonly included in over-the-counter pain-relief medications, often in combination with other active ingredients. Its primary application was in the treatment of mild to moderate pain, such as headaches, muscle aches, and menstrual discomfort. However, due to its association with serious adverse effects, particularly nephrotoxicity and methemoglobinemia, its use has been discontinued in most countries. As a result, it is no longer used in modern medicine and has been removed from pharmaceutical markets.
